The Giants recalled Taschner from Triple-A Fresno on Tuesday and optioned Kevin Frandsen to their top farm club.

Taschner has been optioned to Triple-A Fresno by the San Francisco Giants, opening a spot on the roster for Kevin Correia, who is scheduled to take the mound against the Atlanta Braves on Monday. In nine relief appearances with the Giants this season, Taschner, a rookie lefthander, has posted a 3.00 ERA, striking out nine and walking six in nine innings of work.

The Giants purchased Taschner's contract from Triple-A Fresno on Saturday, and the 26-year-old reliever made his first career big league appearance Saturday night against the Indians. The lefthander worked one scoreless inning, giving up a hit with no walks or strikeouts. A second-round pick in 1999, Taschner's promising career has been derailed by a torn labrum and a pair of major elbow surgeries, including Tommy John surgery in 2002.
