Schumaker's most recent stint with the St. Louis Cardinals was a brief one, as he has been optioned back to Triple-A Memphis, opening a spot on the roster for catcher Yadier Molina, who was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Thursday. The 25-year-old outfielder has appeared in seven games with the Cards this season, going 1-for-7 with an RBI, two runs scored and two strikeouts.

Schumaker has been recalled from Triple-A Memphis by the St. Louis Cardinals, filling the roster spot of pitcher Anthony Reyes, who was sent back down to the minor league club after making a spot start against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday. The outfielder appeared in three games with the Cards earlier this season, going 0-for-5 with two strikeouts.

The St. Louis Cardinals have purchased Schumaker's contract from Triple-A Memphis, replacing fellow outfielder Roger Cedeno, who will miss the next couple of weeks with a minor hamstring strain. In 58 games with the minor league club this season, Schumaker was batting .283 with four home runs, 14 RBI and eight stolen bases.
