The Kansas City Royals anticipate activating Murphy from the 15-day disabled list this weekend. The rookie second baseman has been out since mid-August with a fractured right ring finger. He was hitting .182 with one home run and five RBI in 24 games for the Royals when he was injured.

After fracturing his right ring finger last Wednesday, Murphy was placed on the 15-day disabled list. The 22-year old second basemen was hitting .182 with one home run and five RBI in 24 games this year.

The Kansas City Royals needed another infielder on the roster after trading Tony Graffanino to Boston. On Wednesday, they recalled Murphy from Double-A Wichita. The second-base prospect was batting .313 with 10 homers, 32 RBI and 33 runs scored in 50 games for Wichita this season.
