The Colorado Rockies purchased Williams' contract from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Saturday. The pitcher had been claimed off of waivers from San Diego in mid-May.

Williams, who was designated for assignment by the San Diego Padres earlier this week, has been claimed off waivers by the Colorado Rockies. In two appearances in his short stint with the Padres this season, Williams went 1-0 and posted a 12.46 ERA.

Williams' stay in the Padres' bullpen was short-lived, as the lefthander was designated for assignment on Monday, less than a week after being recalled from Triple-A Portland. In two appearances, Williams went 1-0 and posted a 12.46 ERA. The team will have 10 days to trade Williams, release him or send him outright to the minor leagues.

Filling the hole on the roster and in the bullpen will be Brian Falkenborg, who was recalled from the minor league club.

Williams has been recalled from Triple-A Portland by the San Diego Padres. The lefthander, who was 1-1 with a 6.39 ERA in 12 appearances with the minor league club this season, takes the roster spot of injured starter Woody Williams.

Darrell May will move into the starting rotation during Woody Williams' absence, while Randy Williams will supply the Padres with another arm in the bullpen.
