Logan Kensing

8/9/2006

The Marlins put right-hander Logan Kensing on the 15-day disabled list with an arm injury Wednesday.

Kensing left Sunday's game with elbow soreness. He is to undergo a precautionary MRI exam on his elbow but is expected to be sidelined only three to five days, manager Joe Girardi said.

After allowing seven runs on 11 hits over 5.2 innings in his three appearances with the Marlins this season, Kensing has been optioned to Double-A Carolina. The 22-year-old righthander will be replaced on the roster by Yorman Bazardo.

Kensing has been recalled from Double-A Carolina by the Florida Marlins, replacing the struggling Travis Smith in the bullpen. The righthander has served as a starter with the minor league club this season, going 4-1 with a 3.18 ERA. He's fanned 33 batters and walked 14 in 39.2 innings of work.
