With lefthander Felix Heredia heading to the 15-day disabled list with a strained left thumb, the New York Mets have recalled Bell from Triple-A Norfolk to fill the void in the bullpen. The righthander made his major league debut with the Mets last season, going 0-2 with a 3.33 ERA in 17 relief appearances. He struck out 27 and walked just six in 24.1 innings, but five of the 22 hits he allowed were home runs.

Bell will pitch in middle relief for the Mets.
