Nick Regilio

6/10/2005

Regilio, who was recalled for the fourth time from Triple-A Oklahoma on Wednesday, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday by the Texas Rangers. The 26-year-old righthander has been battling a tender throwing elbow in recent days. He is 1-2 with a 4.58 ERA in 18 relief appearances for the Rangers.

Regilio has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma by the Texas Rangers just a day after being demoted to the minor league club. The righthander fills the roster spot of struggling starter Ryan Drese, who was designated for assignment on Wednesday. In his first three stints with the Rangers this season, Regilio was 1-2 with a 4.76 ERA in 17 relief appearances.

The Texas Rangers recalled lefty reliever Michael Tejera and demoted Regilio to Triple-A Oklahoma on Monday. The 26-year-old righthander was 1-2 with a 4.76 ERA in 17 relief appearances for the Rangers this season.

Regilio, who has been bothered by turf toe in recent days, received a cortisone injection on Sunday. By now, the pain should be under control, which may allow the righthanded reliever to return to action in the Rangers' bullpen. Regilio hasn't pitched since Sunday.

The Rangers' pen has been battling through injuries this spring, and it could use Regilio. Since he was roughed up in his first 2005 appearance on April 8, he hasn't allowed a run over 5.2 innings and hitters are batting just .190 against him.

With Ryan Bukvich going on the disabled list Sunday with a sore elbow, the Texas Rangers recalled Regilio for the third time this season -- and the second time this week. The 26-year-old righthander was recalled on April 4 when Carlos Almanzar went the bereavement list. Regilio came back last Wednesday when R.A. Dickey went the DL, but was returned to Triple-A Oklahoma on Friday when Almanzar returned to the Rangers.

If it's Sunday, this must be Arlington. One can excuse Regilio if he's battling jet lag. He's worked two games for Texas and posted an 11.57 ERA.

Regilio has been recalled and demoted between Oklahoma and Texas already this season, and on Wednesday, the 26-year-old righthander was recalled again. He has worked one-third of an inning for the Rangers, allowing three earned runs, good for a loss and an 81.00 ERA. He has worked two scoreless innings for the Triple-A club.

Regilio was recalled when R.A. Dickey went on the disabled list. The Rangers will have to demote someone on Thursday, when Carlos Almanzar returns from a bereavement leave. It could be Regilio or Ryan Bukvich.

The Texas Rangers have recalled Regilio from Triple-A Oklahoma, filling the roster spot of Carlos Almanzar, who was placed on the bereavement list following the death of his mother. Regilio appeared in six exhibition games this spring, going 0-1 with a 7.04 ERA.

Regilio will pitch in long relief for the Rangers.
