The Kansas City Royals have purchased Camp's contract from Triple-A Omaha, replacing the struggling Mike Wood on the roster. In 21 appearances with the minor league club this season, including seven starts, Camp went 3-6 with a 3.86 ERA.

To make room on the 40-man roster for 28-year-old righthander Steve Stemle, who was recalled on Thursday, the Kansas City Royals designated Camp for assignment. Camp, a 29-year-old righthander, was 0-2 with a 12.15 ERA in 10 appearances for the Royals this season.
