DiNardo was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket by the Boston Red Sox in time for Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The lefthander takes the roster spot of Adam Stern, who is sidelined with a sprained thumb. In three relief appearances with the Red Sox this season, DiNardo has allowed two runs on four hits in 1.2 innings of work.

A few days after he was recalled, DiNardo was returned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday to make room for the day's starting pitcher, Jon Papelbon. After three stints with the Red Sox this season, the 25-year-old lefthander has worked 1.1 scoreless innings and struck out two. DiNardo is 5-2 with a 3.32 ERA in 17 starts for Pawtucket.

With room on the roster needed for infielder Alex Cora, who was acquired from the Cleveland Indians on Thursday, the Boston Red Sox have optioned DiNardo back to Triple-A Pawtucket. The lefthander did not appear in a game after being recalled earlier this week. He has had two brief stints with the Red Sox this season.

On Sunday, the Boston Red Sox recalled DiNardo and righthander Jeremi Gonzalez to give the club 12 pitchers for their 12-game road trip, which begins on Monday. Boston doesn't have a day off during the trip, which can put a lot of stress on a team's bullpen.

DiNardo's stay with the Red Sox lasted two weeks, as the 25-year-old lefthander was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket over the weekend to make room for righthander Wade Miller on the 25-man roster. Miller made his Boston debut on Sunday, and DiNardro headed for Pawtucket to start for the Triple-A club on Monday.

DiNardo made two relief appearances for Boston, working 1.1 innings without allowing and run and striking out a pair. He has made three starts for Pawtucket this spring, posting a 3.14 ERA and .188 opponent batting average without recording a decision.

With David Wells going on the disabled list for a foot injury, DiNardo was recalled by the Boston Red Sox Tuesday. The 25-year-old lefthander will work out of the Boston bullpen, and fellow lefty John Halama is expected to move from the pen to the rotation. DiNardo has made three starts for Triple-A Pawtucket this spring, posting a 3.14 ERA and .188 opponent batting average without recording a decision.

DiNardo registered a 4.23 ERA without a decision in 22 appearances in the Boston bullpen in 2004.
