Grady Sizemore

7/24/2006

Sizemore is hitting .500 (14-for-28) over an eight-game hitting streak.

7/3/2006

Cleveland's Sizemore was selected to his first All-Star team on Sunday, as a reserve outfielder for the American League. Sizemore is batting .299 with 15 homers and 41 RBIs this season.

3/29/2006

Sizemore and the Cleveland Indians came to terms on a six-year, $23.45 million contract Wednesday. The contract provides the largest sum of guaranteed money ever for a player with less than two years of major league service. The agreement includes an $8.5 million club option for 2012 with a $500,000 buyout. If the option is exercised, the deal would total $31.45 million over seven seasons.

Sizemore has been held hitless just twice in his last 22 games. In that 22-game span, the Cleveland center fielder is batting .411 (39-for-95) with 11 doubles, four home runs, 14 RBI and 25 runs scored. His red-hot run has pushed his average to .310 for the season. With 17 doubles, six triples and eight round-trippers, he's slugging .502 in 72 games.

6/23/2005

After going 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles against Boston on Wednesday, Sizemore has a 12-game hitting streak. The Cleveland center fielder is 20-for-50 (.400) during his 12-game run, with seven doubles, eight RBI and nine runs scored.

6/20/2005

Sizemore has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games. In that 15-game run, the Indians' center fielder is 29-for-65 (.446) with 11 extra-base hits, 11 RBI and 18 runs scored. The 22-year-old prospect has pushed his average to .308 on the season. He has 13 doubles, six triples and six longballs in 65 games.

6/9/2005

Sizemore hasn't sat much since the return of Coco Crisp gave the Cleveland Indians four starting outfielders. The 22-year-old outfielder has been too hot for that, going 12-for-19 (.632) with two doubles, two triples and a homer in his last four games. He takes a five-game hitting streak into Thursday's showdown in San Diego.

6/2/2005

With Jody Gerut on the major league roster and Coco Crisp back from the disabled list, there's a logjam in the Cleveland outfield. Perhaps Sizemore will lose some playing time in the four-man mix of Gerut, Crisp, Sizemore and Blake. Sizemore is batting .258 with four homers and 21 RBI in 50 games this season.

One of the top prospects in the Cleveland system, Sizemore has picked it up of late with the Indians. In his first 21 games this season, the 22-year-old outfielder batted .232 with two homers and seven RBI. In his last 11 games, dating back to April 30, Sizemore has hit safely in nine contests, batting .350 (14-for-40) with three doubles, two triples, a homer and seven RBI.
