Mike Edwards

8/25/2005

Edwards has been recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas by the Los Angeles Dodgers, filling the roster spot of outfielder Milton Bradley, who likely will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. In 62 games with the Dodgers this season, the third baseman/outfielder is batting .271 with one home run, nine RBI and a stolen base.

Edwards has been optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas by the Los Angeles Dodgers, opening a spot on the roster for outfielder Jose Cruz, who was acquired from the Boston Red Sox earlier this week. In 62 games with the Dodgers this season, the third baseman/outfielder is batting .271 with one home run, nine RBI and a stolen base.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have purchased Edwards' contract from Triple-A Las Vegas, filling the roster spot of veteran infielder Jose Valentin, who will miss at least two months with torn ligaments in his knee. The 28-year-old Edwards has appeared in just four major league games.

Edwards will figure into the mix at third base during Valentin's absence, along with Norihiro Nakamura, Olmedo Saenz and Antonio Perez. Since he likely won't be in the lineup on a daily basis, Edwards' fantasy value is limited at this point.
