Bootcheck was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday when right-hander Kelvim Escobar was activated from the 15-day disabled list.

The Los Angeles Angels placed Bootcheck on the 15-day disabled list Thursday. The right-hander strained his left hamstring running from the bullpen to the mound during the Angels' brawl with the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Friday activated veteran southpaw Jarrod Washburn from the disabled list and optioned Bootcheck to Triple-A Salt Lake. In three stints with the Angels this season, the 26-year-old righthander is 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA and a save in two starts and three relief appearances.

Bootcheck will be recalled by the Angels from Triple-A Salt Lake in time to start Sunday's game against the New York Yankees. Bootcheck has thrown nine scoreless innings in three games with the Angels this season.

After the Angels' loss to the White Sox on Tuesday night, Bootcheck was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake, in order to make room for the return of closer Francisco Rodriguez. The demotion marked the end of the 26-year-old righthander's second stint with the Angels. Bootcheck has worked nine scoreless innings for the big league club, collecting one save.

After the Angels' 4-0 win over Jon Garland and the Chicago White Sox on Monday, the team optioned Kevin Gregg to Triple-A Salt Lake and recalled Bootcheck. The 26-year-old righthander worked five scoreless innings during an earlier stint in the Angels' bullpen, and he is 2-1 with a 4.91 ERA in six starts at Salt Lake.

In order to open a roster slot for Kelvim Escobar, who returns from the disabled list to join the Angels' rotation tonight against the Oakland Athletics, Bootcheck was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Bootcheck made two relief appearances for the Angels this year, allowing two hits and no runs in five innings.
