Quinlan, recalled on Tuesday of last week, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday after an MRI revealed a mild disc bulge in his neck and inflammation in his left shoulder. Quinlan had been called up to take the place of injured infielder Dallas McPherson, however, now Quinlan will be replaced on the roster by right-handed pitcher Kevin Gregg.

With Orlando Cabrera and Dallas McPherson nursing injuries while active, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim recalled Quinlan Tuesday to give the team an extra infielder. Quinlan, who can play first or third base as well as in the outfield, has spent most of the season with the Angels, batting .172 in 58 at-bats. He was sent to Triple-A Salt Lake 10 days ago and batted .238 there with one home run in five contests.

Quinlan made two errors in his first four games as the Angels' regular third baseman, and he sat out Saturday's win over the Royals. On Sunday, the 28-year-old Quinlan was back in the lineup, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. He's now 2-for-16 (.125) on the season, with his only extra-base hit an Opening Day double.
