The New York Yankees activated Crosby from the disabled list Thursday and designated infielder Nick Green for assignment. Crosby went on the DL with a strained right hamstring on May 19. The outfielder was batting .263 with two RBIs in 31 games this season.

The New York Yankees put Crosby on the 15-day disabled list Friday, the third outfielder they've sidelined in the last two weeks. The Yankees go into their weekend interleague series with the New York Mets without Crosby (right hamstring strain), Hideki Matsui (broken left wrist) and Gary Sheffield (left wrist and hand). In 38 at-bats this season, Crosby was batting .263 with a double and a triple.

On Monday, Crosby was recalled for his fourth stint on the New York Yankees' roster. The outfielder has gone 4-for-17 (.235) with five runs scored in 23 games for the Yankees.

The New York Yankees recalled Crosby from Triple-A Columbus Thursday after designating relievers Mike Stanton and Paul Quantrill for assignment. Crosby, who gives the Yankees another center-field option, was batting .229 with three homers and 21 RBI in 40 games for Columbus. He has gone 2-for-12 (.167) in 18 games with the Yankees this season.

To make room for Monday's starter, Sean Henn, the New York Yankees optioned Crosby to Triple-A Columbus before New York's 5-4 loss to Tampa Bay. Recalled on Thursday, Crosby appeared in three games during his stint, but didn't pick up an at-bat. In 18 games with New York this season, Crosby is 2-for-12 (.167) with four runs scored.

With Hideki Matsui limited to DH duties because of an ankle injury, the New York Yankees recalled Crosby from Triple-A Columbus Thursday to help out in the outfield. The Yankees returned infielder Andy Phillips to Columbus to make room for Crosby.

To make room on the 25-man roster for Wednesday night's starter against Tampa Bay, Sean Henn, the New York Yankees optioned Crosby to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday. Crosby had appeared in 15 games for New York, going 2-for-12 (.167).

While Crosby has been useful to the Yankees, he was the obvious candidate to go down in order to make room for Henn. Bernie Williams has joined the Yankees' bench this week in a lineup shuffle by manager Joe Torre. It's possible that Crosby will come back up when Henn returns to the minors.
