Wilfredo Ledezma

6/5/2005

Ledezma has been optioned to Triple-A Toledo by the Detroit Tigers, opening a spot on the roster for veteran closer Troy Percival, who is slated to come off the 15-day disabled list in time for Sunday's meeting with the Baltimore Orioles. The lefthander has made nine starts for the Tigers this season, going 2-4 with a 6.75 ERA. He allowed seven runs -- five earned -- over just 4.1 innings in his most recent outing on Saturday.

Everyone in the Detroit rotation will get some extra rest with the snowstorm that cancelled a pair of Tigers-Twins games over the weekend. The fifth starter, Ledezma, will endure the longest stretch of time off between starts, as he may not make a start for as many as nine days following his last outing on April 20. The righthander is 1-1 with a 5.82 ERA in three starts so far in 2005.
