On Tuesday the Diamondbacks designated Lopez for assignment, just one day after the reliever failed to get an out against the Cardinals in the team's 10-3 loss on Monday. Lopez will be replaced on the roster by lefthanded pitcher Armando Almanza.

On Tuesday, the Arizona Diamondbacks designated Lopez for assignment, just one day after the reliever failed to get an out against two batters in the eighth inning of a 10-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Lopez will be replaced on the roster by fellow lefthander Armando Almanza.

Lopez has been recalled from Triple-A Tucson by the Arizona Diamondbacks. The lefthander, who was claimed off waivers from Colorado earlier this month, was on the Rockies' Opening Day roster, but was sent down after allowing five runs on seven hits in just two innings of work.

Lopez will fill the bullpen spot of fellow southpaw Mike Gosling, who was demoted on Sunday.

After allowing five runs on seven hits in just two innings of work, Lopez has been optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs by the Colorado Rockies. The lefthander will be replaced on the roster by closer Chin-hui Tsao, who was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.

According to manager Clint Hurdle, the Rockies are looking to trade Lopez to a team in need of a lefthanded specialist.
