Josh Bard

6/28/2006

Bard was suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his aggressive actions during a 9-4 loss to Seattle on Sunday. The Padres' catcher was ejected after taking a called third strike in the defeat. He continued to argue with plate umpire Paul Nauert and pointed his bat at the umpire's face before being restrained by third base coach Glenn Hoffman. Bard will serve his suspension Wednesday against Oakland, unless he appeals.

5/1/2006

Bard moves to the National League as the Boston Red Sox traded the backup catcher to the San Diego Padres Monday. Bard, minor league reliever Cla Meredith and either cash or a player to be named go to the Padres for veteran Doug Mirabelli.
