Aaron Cook

7/29/2005

Cook will make his first major league appearance since August 7 of last year when he starts on the mound against the Philadelphia Phillies this Saturday. This culminates his comeback from a pulmonary embolism that required surgery last September, including the removal of a rib to relieve pressure on a vein in his pitching shoulder.

Working his way back to the major leagues after recovering from a pulmonary embolism, Cook made a minor league rehab start on Tuesday. However, the righthander was removed from the game after just three innings of work, due to some discomfort in his pitching shoulder. He will be re-evaluated over the next couple of days to determine the extent of the injury. In 16 starts with the Rockies last season, Cook went 6-4 with a 4.28 ERA and one complete game.
