Kevin Mench

5/3/2006

Mench homered again Tuesday in the Rangers' 7-5 win over Tampa Bay. The consecutive games streak of hitting home runs may be over, but since April 9, the Texas outfielder is hitting .359 (23-for-64) with eight homers and 23 RBIs in 16 games.

Mench extended his Rangers' record by homering in his seventh straight game on Friday, one short of the major league record. Texas lost the game 7-6 to the Cleveland Indiana. Mench was 0-for-3 before hitting a solo shot in the eighth inning.

4/26/2006

Mench set a Texas Rangers record by homering in his sixth straight game on Wednesday afternoon. The Rangers' outfielder hit a grand slam in the fourth inning against Oakland's Kiko Calero to give Texas a 4-1 lead. Mench also has a single in the game, and he now has an 11-game hitting streak.

4/25/2006

Mench went 3-for-4 with his fourth homer of the season in the Rangers' 3-2 loss to the Oakland A's on Monday.

2/3/2006

Avoiding an arbitration hearing, Mench agreed to a $2.8 million contract Friday with the Texas Rangers. The 27-year-old outfielder, who made $345,000 for the second year straight last season, can also earn an additional $50,000 in performance bonuses in 2006.

Mench enjoyed his third consecutive multi-hit game Tuesday, going 3-for-4, including his 21st home run, in the Rangers' 6-4 win over the Seattle Mariners. The win halted a four-game losing skein for the Rangers, who have won just two of their last 14 games.

7/1/2005

En route to an 18-5 Texas win over the Angels, Mench hit home runs in three consecutive innings for the Rangers. The left fielder stroked a solo shot off Angels reliever Joel Peralta in the fifth inning, then hit a pair of two-run bombs off Jake Woods in the sixth and seventh frames.

5/9/2005

After being struck on the elbow by a pitch last weekend and missing three games, Mench was hit on the forearm Saturday by Cleveland's Scott Elarton in a 6-1 Rangers win. Mench sat out Sunday's series finale against the Indians.

The Rangers host Detroit on Monday, and it's uncertain if Mench will be ready to go. He's batting .298 with three homers and 12 RBI in 23 games this season.

5/6/2005

Mench, who had missed three midweek games after he was struck on the elbow by a pitch on Sunday, was back in the Texas lineup Friday night. Mench started in left field in the opener of a three-game set against Cleveland.

5/5/2005

Mench, who was struck on the elbow by a pitch from Boston's Matt Clement on Sunday, has missed three straight games through Wednesday. The Rangers are off on Thursday before hosting Cleveland for a weekend series in Arlington. There is no word on whether Mench will be ready to return to the Texas lineup by Friday.
