Billy Traber

4/26/2006

Traber's stint in the majors was brief, as the Washington Nationals optioned him to Triple-A New Orleans after lasting just 1 1-3 innings against the Reds Tuesday. Seven of the 11 batters the left-hander faced reached base, leaving Traber with a 1-1 record and 9.00 ERA. He won in Philadelphia on April 20, allowing two hits and three earned runs, but was roughed up at home by Cincinnati.

The Nationals' Web site is reporting that Ryan Drese will miss up to two months with an elbow injury and Traber will be recalled from the minors to start Thursday against the Philadelphia Phillies. The former Mets and Indians prospect had made two starts at Triple-A New Orleans, posting a 2.45 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 11 innings without getting a decision.
