So Taguchi

3/10/2006

Taguchi and the St. Louis Cardinals have come to terms on a one-year deal. He hit .288 with eight homers and 53 RBIs in 2005, when he spent much of the season filling in for the injured Larry Walker.

Taguchi was hit in the hand by a Ryan Vogelsong pitch Tuesday in the ninth inning against the Pirates. The Cardinals' outfielder was forced to leave the game, but X-rays were negative and should not cause Taguchi to miss an extended period of time. He will probably sit out 2-3 games to fully recover.

Taguchi had himself a huge night against the Arizona Diamondbacks, as he tied his career highs with four hits and three RBI. The Cardinals' outfielder, who had three doubles, two runs scored and a stolen on the night, also extended his current hitting streak to a personal-best nine games, which includes five multihit performances.
