Ricky Stone

7/4/2005

The Cincinnati Reds outrighted Stone to Triple-A Louisville Sunday in anticipation of recalling Elizardo Ramirez to make Monday's start against the San Francisco Giants. Stone was called up at the beginning of May after going 2-1 with a 2.57 ERA with Louisville. But the righthanded reliever had an ERA of 6.75 in 23 appearances with the Reds, with most of the damage coming in his last three outings.

The Cincinnati Reds have purchased Stone's contract from Triple-A Louisville, filling the roster spot of struggling reliever Joe Valentine. In nine relief appearances with the minor league club this season, the righthanded Stone has posted a 2-1 record and 2.57 ERA. He's struck out 15 and walked three while holding opposing batters to a .192 average.

Stone made his major league debut in 2001. He split the 2004 campaign between the Houston Astros and San Diego Padres, going a combined 2-2 with a 6.45 ERA.
