Bobby Seay

11/30/2005

The Detroit Tigers have signed Seay to a minor league contract. The 27-year-old left-hander will earn $375,000 if he is in the major leagues. If he pitches in the minors, he will make $100,000. Seay posted an 8.49 ERA in 17 relief appearances for the Colorado Rockies in 2005.

Seay has been optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs by the Colorado Rockies, creating a spot on the roster for fellow reliever Jose Acevedo, who will be activated from the 15-day disabled list on Monday. Seay has struggled in his last three outings, allowing five runs on four hits in just one inning of work. He also walked four batters over that span and blew a save.

Seay, who missed more than six weeks with a bruised left pectoral muscle, has been activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Colorado Rockies. The lefthander takes the roster spot of injured starter Shawn Chacon. In three games prior to the injury, Seay allowed one run on three hits in two innings of work. He struck out three and walked one.

A bruised left pectoral muscle has landed Seay on the 15-day disabled list for the Colorado Rockies. The lefthander, who suffered the injury while playing catch prior to Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants, will be replaced on the roster by Jose Acevedo.

Since being acquired from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays earlier this month, Seay has appeared in three games with the Rockies, allowing one run on three hits in two innings of work. He has three strikeouts and one walk. Seay's production does not warrant fantasy consideration.

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have traded Seay to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for outfielder Reggie Taylor. The lefthander was designated for assignment earlier this week after going 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA and one save in six relief appearances this spring.

Seay pitched in 21 games with the Devil Rays last season, posting a 2.38 ERA, striking out 17 and walking five in 22.2 innings. He will join the club on Saturday in San Francisco, meaning the Rockies will have to make a corresponding move to open a roster spot.
