Victor Santos

Santos is expected to start for the Pirates on Monday against the Milwaukee Brewers, replacing injured starting pitcher Shawn Chacon in the rotation. Chacon is day-to-day after having his knee drained and receiving a cortisone shot.

Santos was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Pirates on Sunday due to a strained rotator cuff in his right shoulder. The Pirates activated Kip Wells to replace Santos in the rotation.

After giving up seven runs on nine hits -- including two home runs -- in Sunday's loss to the Houston Astros, Santos has lost his spot in the Milwaukee Brewers' starting rotation. The righthander, who now will pitch in long relief, will be replaced by veteran Rick Helling.
