On Wednesday, the Oakland Athletics traded Byrnes and shortstop prospect Omar Quintanilla to the Colorado Rockies for pitchers Joe Kennedy and Jay Witasick. The popular outfielder was batting .266 with seven home runs and 24 RBI in 59 games for the A's.
