The Marlins optioned Smith to Triple-A Albuquerque late Friday in order to make room for starter Josh Beckett. Beckett returned on Saturday after being on the DL for nearly three weeks with a strained oblique muscle. In 12 appearances for Florida this season, Smith has a 6.75 ERA and .370 OBA.

Smith has been recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque by the Florida Marlins to fill the roster and bullpen spot of Nate Bump, who is out with inflammation in his pitching shoulder. In 11 relief appearances with the Marlins earlier this season, Smith posted a 7.20 ERA.

The Florida Marlins have optioned Smith to Triple-A Albuquerque, opening a spot on the roster for 21-year-old lefthander Scott Olsen, who is slated to take the mound against the Devil Rays on Saturday. Smith has made 11 relief appearances with the Marlins this season, posting a 7.20 ERA.

Smith has been recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque by the Florida Marlins, filling the roster spot of veteran righthander Frank Castillo, who was designated for assignment on Sunday after making a spot start for the injured A.J. Burnett late last week. Smith appeared in four games with the Marlins earlier this season, but posted an 8.10 ERA and was demoted to the minor leagues.

Smith has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque by the Flordia Marlins, opening a spot on the roster for fellow righthander Logan Kensing, who was called up from Double-A Carolina late Wednesday. Smith has appeared in just four games with the Marlins this season, posting an 8.10 ERA.

Smith was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, but with closer Guillermo Mota going on the 15-day disabled list with an elbow problem, the Marlins have recalled the righthander. He has appeared in just one game with Florida this season, allowing one hit and striking out one batter in a scoreless inning.

Smith will pitch in middle relief, and he has no fantasy value at this point.

Veteran Al Leiter pitched just enough in Wednesday's meeting with the Colorado Rockies before the game was rained/snowed out that he will not be available for Thursday's doubleheader. As a result, the Marlins will turn to Smith to make a start in the second game against Byung-Hyun Kim. The righthander has made just one appearances with the Marlins since being recalled last week, allowing one hit and striking out a batter in one shutout inning.

In 16 appearances with the Atlanta Braves last season, including four starts, Smith went 2-3 with a 6.20 ERA. After Thursday's spot start, he will return to a relief role. A.J. Burnett is scheduled to start the first game for the Marlins.

Smith has been recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque by the Florida Marlins, filling the roster spot of veteran Antonio Alfonseca, who is expected to miss at least two months with a stress fracture in his pitching elbow. In 16 appearances with the Atlanta Braves last season, including three starts, Smith went 2-3 with a 6.20 ERA.

Smith had been serving as a starter with the minor league club this season, but he will fill a long-relief role with the Marlins.
