Paul Lo Duca

7/3/2006

Lo Duca was selected to his fourth All-Star team Sunday and will start at catcher for the National League. He is hitting .288 with three homers and 25 RBIs this season.

6/24/2006

Lo Duca left Saturday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays due to a bruised left thumb. The Mets catcher, who is listed as day-to-day, was replaced by Ramon Castro in the third inning. Lo Duca is hitting .280 with three homers and 22 RBIs in 55 games this season.

12/5/2005

The Florida Marlins traded Lo Duca to the New York Mets Monday for minor league right-hander Gaby Hernandez and another prospect. The 33-year-old catcher is owed $6.25 million in each of the next two seasons from the Mets, and Florida will remain responsible for the $1 million of his signing bonus, which is due to be paid Nov. 30, 2008. Lo Duca, who will replace Mike Piazza, batted .283 with six homers and 57 RBIs last season.

9/9/2005

Lo Duca reinjured his right hamstring last Wednesday, which will likely cut down on his availability through the end of the season. Lo Duca is hitting .293 with four homers and 50 RBI in 117 games this year.

8/11/2005

Barring any setbacks, Lo Duca will be available for this weekend's three-game series against the San Francisco Giants, and he could be back in the lineup as early as Friday. The catcher has been sidelined since he strained his right hamstring running the bases in Florida's 4-3 loss to Cincinnati last Saturday.

8/7/2005

Lo Duca strained his right hamstring running the bases Saturday in Florida's 4-3 loss to Cincinnati. The Marlins' catcher came up lame trying to advance from second to third base on a flyball to right field in the second inning, and he left the game.

6/24/2005

After missing a couple of starts with a bruised right foot, Lo Duca returned to the Marlins' lineup for Thursday's matchup with the Atlanta Braves, going 2-for-3 with a walk. The catcher, who suffered the injury on Tuesday, should be fine going forward.

6/22/2005

Lo Duca was pulled from the Marlins' lineup in the fourth inning of Tuesday's meeting with the Atlanta Braves, due to a bruised right foot. Precautionary X-rays were negative, and the catcher has been listed as day-to-day. Matt Treanor handled the catching duties in Lo Duca's absence.

6/2/2005

After sitting out for a few days with a bruised left elbow, Lo Duca was back in the Marlins' lineup for Wednesday's meeting with the Pittsburgh Pirates, going 1-for-4. The veteran catcher had been hitless in his previous 22 at-bats going into the game.

5/30/2005

Lo Duca has been bothered by a bruised left elbow in recent days, and he sat out Florida's wins over New York and Pittsburgh on Sunday and Monday. The Marlins' catcher also was clipped by a bat on Saturday, so he's a bit banged up.

5/27/2005

Lo Duca was slated to be behind the dish for Thursday's matchup with the New York Mets, but due to a bruised left elbow, he was a late scratch from the Marlins' lineup. The catcher, who was replaced by Matt Treanor, has been listed as day-to-day.
