Enrique Wilson

6/28/2005

Wilson has been sent outright to Triple-A Iowa by the Chicago Cubs. The veteran infielder, who signed with Chicago after being released by the Baltimore Orioles earlier this season, has seen limited duty in 15 games this year, notching just three hits in 22 at-bats (.136).

After being released by the Baltimore Orioles early Tuesday, Wilson has signed with the Chicago Cubs. The veteran infielder, who has not appeared in a major league game this season, takes the roster spot of the demoted Ronny Cedeno. In 20 games with Triple-A Ottawa, he was hitting .279 with three home runs and eight RBI.

Wilson will be available for Tuesday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates and should supply the Cubs with an experienced switch-hitter off the bench. He spent last season with the New York Yankees, batting .213 with six home runs, 31 RBI and one stolen base in 93 games.
