Luis Ordaz

4/6/2006

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have signed veteran Tomas Perez to bolster their injury-depleted infield. To make room on the roster for Perez, the Rays have moved Ordaz from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list. Ordaz suffered a knee injury in Monday's opening day loss to Baltimore. He was diagnosed with bruising under the left kneecap.

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays placed Ordaz on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, two days after he suffered a knee injury in the Rays' opening day loss to Baltimore. The injury has been diagnosed as bruising under his left kneecap. How long he might be out of action hasn't been disclosed.

Ordaz replaced Julio Lugo at shortstop Monday when the starter left with an abdominal strain in the fourth inning. Ordaz left three innings later with a sore left knee. An MRI exam was scheduled for Tuesday, and the status of both players for Wednesday's game against Baltimore is uncertain.
