Damian Miller

4/22/2006

Miller went 4-for-4 with three doubles, a homer and five RBIs in the Brewers' 11-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. Milwaukee became the first team in 40 years to hit five home runs in one inning when it accomplished the feat in the fourth.

Despite being less than full strength, Miller returned to the Brewers' starting lineup for Monday's meeting with the Chicago Cubs, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout. The veteran catcher had missed the team's previous two contests with a sore back.

Miller ran the bases on Monday, and the Brewers' catcher is back in the Milwaukee lineup for Tuesday night's contest at Tampa Bay. Miller has been bothered by a groin strain over the last week, and Chad Moeller has done most of the recent catching for Milwaukee.

Miller will not return to the lineup this weekend after experiencing discomfort in his strained groin on Friday. The Brewers' catcher had done some agility drills on Thursday, but woke up the next morning with more cramping in the injured area.

The strained groin Miller suffered while running the bases in Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers is expected to keep him sidelined for the next 3-5 days. In his absence, Chad Moeller will step into the Brewers' lineup and see the majority of the time behind the plate. Julio Mosquera was called up from Triple-A Nashville to serve as an emergency backup.

Miller was forced to exit Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers after straining his groin while running the bases. The veteran catcher, who was replaced in the Brewers' lineup by Chad Moeller, will be re-evaluated on Monday to determine the extent of the injury. Miller was 1-for-3 with a strikeout prior to his departure.

Miller missed his second straight game on Friday due to a strained biceps in his throwing arm. The catcher doesn't consider the injury as being serious and hopes to be able to play on Saturday.
