Manny Aybar

6/26/2005

Over the weekend, Aybar cleared waivers and accepted an assignment to the New York Mets' Triple-A Norfolk affiliate. The 33-year-old righthander posted a .301 opponent batting average and 6.04 ERA in 22 relief appearances for the Mets this season.

The Mets designated Aybar for assignment in order to make room on the roster for Danny Graves, who signed with New York on Saturday. Aybar has seen action in 22 games this season, logging 25.1 innings while posting a 6.04 ERA. The righthanded reliever, who did not play in the majors in 2004, has played for seven big league teams in his career.
