Yan was designated for assignment Friday, part of the Cincinnati Reds' emphatic bullpen makeover. Yan was obtained from the Angels for a minor leaguer on May 30, part of a series of moves to try to improve one of the major leagues' worst bullpens. Yan pitched in 14 games for the Reds, going 1-0 with one save and a 3.60 ERA.

The Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday acquired Yan from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for minor league reliever Kyle Edens. Joining his seventh team, the right-hander failed to pick up a decision while working to a 6.85 ERA in 13 relief appearances for the Angels this season.

Yan was designated for assignment by the Angels on Friday. He has a 6.85 ERA in 22 1-3 innings over 13 relief appearances this season for Los Angeles.
