Eddie Perez

6/8/2005

Although he might not see any playing time right away since he's still not back to full strength, Perez has been activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Atlanta Braves. The catcher, who missed more than two weeks with tendinitis in his right shoulder, is needed as an emergency backup to Brayan Pena while regular starter Johnny Estrada recovers from a concussion. Prior to his stint on the DL, Perez was batting .216 with two home runs and six RBI in 15 games.

Perez is back on the 15-day disabled list for the Atlanta Braves after being active for just one day. With regular starter Johnny Estrada unavailable because of a concussion and whiplash, the catcher was needed as an emergency backup to Brayan Pena in Tuesday's meeting against the Los Angeles Angels, but he did not appear in the contest. The right shoulder tendinitis Perez has been battling most of the season will keep him sidelined for at least another couple of weeks.

On Friday, the Braves have placed Perez on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right shoulder. Perez was serving as a back up catcher to Johnny Estrada, and was hitting .216 with two home runs when he went down.
