Scott Sullivan

7/11/2005

Sullivan's back has shown little-to-no improvement, and doctors are recommending that he undergo surgery to repair the problem. The Royals' righthander has not appeared in a major league game this season, and if he chooses to go under the knife, he'll miss the rest of the 2005 campaign.

After battling a back strain and an arm injury this spring, Sullivan appeared in his first game action of 2005 on Thursday. The 34-year-old righthander worked a 1-2-3 inning for Triple-A Omaha and picked up a "W" in his 2005 debut.

Sullivan has been moved to the 60-day disabled list by the Royals while suffering from a strained back. Sullivan has yet to throw a pitch this season.
