Carl Everett

7/26/2006

Everett was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Wednesday. Seattle has 10 days to trade or release the veteran designated hitter. To fill Everett's spot on the roster, Seattle recalled outfielder Chris Snelling from Triple-A Tacoma.

Everett signed a $3.4 million, one-year contract with the Mariners on Wednesday. The designated hitter spent 2005 with the White Sox, hitting .251 with 23 HRs and 87 RBIs. The contract also includes a $600,000 buyout for 2007, meaning Everett is guaranteed $4 million.

10/31/2005

The White Sox declined to pick up the option on Everett's contract for 2006, instead opting to pay a $500,000 buyout. Everett hit .251-23-87 in 135 games for the World Champions this year.

After missing five games with a mild groin strain, Everett was back in the Chicago lineup as the White Sox' designated hitter. The 34-year-old veteran was 1-for-3 with an RBI double in the third inning of the Sox' 2-1 win over the New York Yankees.

8/9/2005

Everett missed the entire weekend series against Seattle, after the White Sox' DH-outfielder suffered a mild groin strain on Thursday. He took batting practice before Chicago's game in Yankee Stadium Monday, but won't return to the White Sox' lineup until at least Wednesday.

4/15/2005

Everett banged into the left-field wall while trying to track down a flyball hit by Cleveland's Ben Broussard in the first inning of Thursday's matchup with the Indians. The White Sox' outfielder, who was removed from the game after a quick evaluation, has been diagnosed with a bruised left shoulder blade. He was replaced by Timo Perez and has been listed as day-to-day.

According to manager Ozzie Guillen, the injury is not serious and Everett may be ready to play on Friday. He would be back in the designated hitter slot if he's in the lineup. Everett has been serving as the White Sox' DH this season and was making his first start in the outfield for 2005. He is batting .367 with one home run and nine RBI in nine games.
