Jeromy Burnitz

Burnitz did not play in the Pirates' 2-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday due to a left calf injury. The right fielder was bothered by the injury in Sunday's 7-5 win over the San Francisco Giants.

The Baltimore Orioles and Burnitz have come to terms on a two-year deal that depends on the veteran outfielder passing a physical. An anonymous team source says Burnitz will sign a contract that will pay him $10-12 million over two years.

Burnitz went 2-for-4 in Tuesday's win over the Atlanta Braves, belting the eighth grand slam of his major league career. The Cubs' outfielder had just eight hits in his first 53 at-bats this month, but in five games since, he is 9-for-22 (.409) with a pair of home runs and nine RBI.
