7/18/2006

Embree was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Monday and pitched one shutout inning to earn an 8-6 victory over the Phillies. The Padres' left-handed reliever, who was placed on the DL on July 2 with a strained left groin, is 3-2 with a 4.31 ERA in 39 games this season.

Embree has signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres, including an invitation to spring training. The veteran left-hander, who turns 36 later this month, split the 2005 campaign between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, going a combined 2-5 with a 7.62 ERA and one save in 67 relief appearances.

7/30/2005

Embree signed with the New York Yankees on Friday night, shortly after being released by the Boston Red Sox. Boston had designated the reliever for assignment 10 days ago. To make room on the roster, the Yankees designated Buddy Groom for assignment.

The Red Sox have designated lefthanded pitcher Alan Embree for assignment on Tuesday. Embree was 1-4 with a 7.65 ERA through 43 appearances this season.
