Rey Sanchez

6/15/2005

Sanchez was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, retroactive to June 10, with two bulging cervical discs in his back. The Yankees hope treatment and rest will help Sanchez, but surgery remains a possibility. The middle infielder was batting .279 (12-for-43) with seven runs scored for the Yankees.

An MRI taken on Saturday revealed that Sanchez has two bulging discs in his neck, and the New York infielder wore a supportive collar prior to Saturday's matchup against St. Louis. Sanchez was complaining of dizziness and tingling in his fingers and toes. He has been placed on a program of anti-inflammatories, and he currently is listed as day-to-day.
