Mike Remlinger

6/25/2006

Remlinger was designated for assignment on Saturday to make room on the Braves' roster for left-hander Chuck James. Remlinger made 36 relief appearances for Atlanta this season, posting a 2-4 record with a 4.03 ERA through 22 1-3 innings.

Remlinger is returning to the Braves, agreeing Monday to a minor league contract that would pay him $700,000 if he's added to the major league roster. Remlinger pitched for Atlanta from 1999-2002, and is a 13-year major league veteran.

The Red Sox have designated lefthander Mike Remlinger for assignment on Sunday, just 19 days after obtaining him from the Cubs. Remlinger had a 14.85 era in eight appearances for the team. Lefthanded pitcher Abe Alvarez was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to take Remlinger's place.

The Chicago Cubs have traded Remlinger and cash to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for 21-year-old righthander Olivio Astacio. Remlinger, a 39-year-old lefthander, was designated for assignment by the Cubs last week after going 0-3 with a 4.91 ERA in 35 relief appearances this season. He missed a couple of weeks with a broken finger on his pitching hand.

Before the Chicago Cubs took on the New York Mets on Friday, the club designated Remlinger for assignment. The veteran lefthander has battled a host of injuries since joining the Cubs in 2003, and he has struggled to be effective throughout his tenure with the team. He was 0-3 with a 4.91 ERA in 35 appearances this season.

6/5/2005

Remlinger has been activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Chicago Cubs. The veteran lefthander has not taken the mound since May 20, due to a non-displaced fracture of the pinkie finger on his pitching hand. In 16 relief appearances this season, Remlinger is 0-1 with a 4.97 ERA.

5/25/2005

Remlinger has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Chicago Cubs, retroactive to May 21, due to a broken pinkie finger on his pitching hand. The lefthander, who is 0-1 with a 4.97 ERA in 16 relief appearances this season, will be replaced on the active roster by second baseman Todd Walker. The team currently does not have an exact timetable for Remlinger's return.
