James Loney

4/5/2006

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Nomar Garciaparra on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday and recalled Loney to take his place. The 21-year-old rookie, who has never played above the Double-A level, went 1-for-3 with a walk Tuesday night in his major league debut. Loney, batting fifth for the Dodgers, debuted by walking and scoring in a four-run first inning. He singled off John Smoltz in the third inning for his first big league hit.
