On Sunday, Weaver became the first rookie since Livian Hernandez to win his first eight straight decisions. Hernandez did it with Florida in 1997. Weaver pitched six innings, allowing one run and three hits while striking out eight in the Los Angeles Angels' 5-3 win.

Weaver became the first rookie in 25 years to win his first seven starts Sunday, pitching the Los Angeles Angels past the Kansas City Royals 3-1. Not since Fernando Valenzuela went 8-0 for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1981 had any rookie launched his career with seven wins in seven starts. Weaver went 6 2-3 innings Sunday, giving up three hits and one run. His ERA actually went UP _ from 1.12 to 1.15 in 47 innings.

Weaver pitched seven innings and allowed just one run in the Angels' 7-1 win over the Seattle Mariners on Monday. Weaver was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday to take the roster spot of his brother, Jeff, who was designated for assignment after struggling to a 3-10 record in 16 starts for Los Angeles this season.

Weaver, recalled from Triple-A on Friday, will start for the Angels on Monday night at Seattle. Weaver takes the spot of his older brother Jeff, who was designated for assignment. The younger Weaver went 4-0 with a 1.37 ERA in four major league starts after being called up on May 26, but was sent back down on June 17 to make room for Bartolo Colon.

Weaver was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday, taking the roster spot of his older brother Jeff, who was designated for assignment by the Angels. Jered was 4-0 with a 1.37 ERA in four starts after being called up on May 26, but was sent back to the minors on June 17 to make room for Bartolo Colon.

Weaver was recalled by the Angels from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday, as Esteban Yan was designated for assignment. The highly touted right-hander is expected to make his major-league debut for Los Angeles against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday.
