Bernie Castro

7/26/2006

Castro was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday after Nationals second baseman Jose Vidro was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. The 27-year-old Castro was batting .284 with 22 steals at New Orleans.

10/27/2005

Castro has signed with the Washington Nationals, agreeing to a one-year contract. The 26-year-old infielder spent the bulk of the 2005 campaign with the Baltimore Orioles' Triple-A affiliate in Ottawa, batting .315 with one home run, 36 RBI and 41 stolen bases in 126 games.

9/21/2005

Castro could pick up a few more starts over the final days of the season after Baltimore's starting second baseman, Brian Roberts, suffered a dislocated left elbow in the Orioles' 12-9 loss to the New York Yankees on Tuesday night.
