The Atlanta Braves placed Aybar on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday with a broken bone in his left hand and a sprained left middle finger. He suffered the injury after trying to slide during a stolen base attempt on July 30, but tried to play through the injury until it became too painful.

Aybar was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday after Dodgers third baseman Jeff Kent was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain. Aybar was hitting .315 with 10 homers and 41 RBIs for Las Vegas. The 23-year-old infielder went 2-for-4 in Tuesday's 4-1 victory over Arizona and is batting .282 with 21 RBIs in 36 games for the Dodgers this season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed Jason Repko on the 15-day disabled list with an ankle sprain and recalled Aybar to take his roster spot. The 23-year-old Aybar, a promising infield prospect, was leading the Triple-A Pacific Coast League with 44 hits and 33 RBIs. His .358 batting average was fifth-best in the league, and he had seven home runs.
