Making room for fellow outfielder Matt Holliday, who was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday, Spilborghs has been optioned back to Triple-A Colorado Springs by the Colorado Rockies. He was recalled earlier this week when the injured Brad Hawpe landed on the DL, and made his major league debut by going 2-for-4 in a loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.

The Colorado Rockies placed Brad Hawpe on the 15-day disabled list and recalled Spilborghs on Wednesday. The 25-year-old outfielder was batting .355 in 15 games at Triple-A Colorado Springs after hitting .341 in 71 games for Double-A Tulsa. The righthanded hitter will be making his big league debut.
