With Todd Helton's return from the 15-day disabled list, Shealy has been optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs, opening a spot on the Rockies' roster. The 25-year-old rookie first baseman held his own while filling in for Helton, batting .333 with seven doubles, two home runs and 14 RBI in 23 games.

With regular starter Todd Helton nursing a strained calf, Shealy was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs by the Colorado Rockies, in time to handle the first-base duties in Tuesday's meeting with the New York Mets. The 25-year-old rookie went 1-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.

With second baseman Aaron Miles coming off the disabled list late Monday, the Colorado Rockies have opened a spot on the roster by optioning Shealy to Triple-A Colorado Springs. The first baseman appeared in just eight games during his short stint with the major league club, going 6-for-20 with one home run, three RBI and seven strikeouts.

Shealy, an impressive power prospect stuck behind Todd Helton on the team's depth chart, was recalled by the Colorado Rockies on Sunday. The 25-year-old first baseman, who will be making his major league debut, is expected to get some DH at-bats with the Rockies playing at Cleveland and Baltimore this week.
