Steve Stemle

6/12/2005

The Royals placed Stemle on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday with a back injury. The righthanded reliever made his major league debut on May 26, and has seen action in six games. He's worked 10.2 innings, allowing 10 hits and six earned runs.

Stemle, who turned 28 last week, got his first call to the big leagues on Thursday. The Kansas City Royals recalled the righthander from Triple-A Omaha before the club lost to Texas on Thursday night, and Stemle came in and worked three perfect innings with three strikeouts when starter Jose Lima departed.
