After the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim acquired lefthander Jason Christiansen in a Tuesday trade with San Francisco, the Angels optioned Peralta to Triple-A Salt Lake to make room for him. In 28 relief appearances for the Angels, the 29-year-old righthander was 1-0 with a 3.89 ERA.

With Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez going on the disabled list, Los Angeles recalled Peralta from Triple-A Salt Lake to fill the opening in the bullpen. The 29-year-old righthander is making his first trip to the majors after starting his career as an infielder in 1996 and converting to pitching in 2000. He was 4-1 with a 2.60 ERA and seven saves in 16 appearances with Salt Lake this season.
