The Giants activated Munter from the 15-day disabled list on Friday. The reliever, who has been sidelined with pain in his pitching elbow since mid-August, is having a fine season for San Francisco, going 2-0 with a 2.39 ERA in 44 appearances.

Munter is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the cause of the pain and discomfort in his pitching elbow. The Giants' righthander, who aggravated the problem on Thursday, is will be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday.

Munter has been recalled from Triple-A Fresno by the San Francisco Giants, filling the roster spot of ace starter Jason Schmidt, who is out with a strained pitching shoulder. In 12 relief appearances with the minor league club this season, the righthanded Munter is 1-3 with a 5.11 ERA.

Munter was with the Giants for a few days last month, but was optioned back to Fresno before making his major league debut. He will pitch in middle relief.

Munter's stay with the San Francisco Giants was a short one, as the righthander has been optioned to Triple-A Fresno just four days after being recalled from the minor league club. He has yet to make his major league debut.

Brad Hennessey, who is slated to start Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, will fill the void on the Giants' roster.

Filling the roster spot of injured closer Armando Benitez, the San Francisco Giants have recalled Munter from Triple-A Fresno. The righthander has made eight relief appearances with the minor league club this season, going 0-2 with a 3.38 ERA.

Munter will be making his major league debut. He will pitch in middle relief and won't have any fantasy value.
