Jason Repko

5/11/2006

Repko sprained his ankle in the Dodgers' 12-7 win over Houston Tuesday, and he was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday. He was injured trying to climb the outfield wall at Dodger Stadium in an attempt to rob Houston's Morgan Ensberg of a home run. The Los Angeles outfielder was off to a good start in his first full season in the majors, batting .304 with a .392 on-base percentage. He has scored 13 runs and driven in 12 in 25 games.

With Kenny Lofton going on the disabled list with a left calf muscle strain, Repko started in center field Monday in the Dodgers' 11-10 loss to Atlanta. Repko went 2-for-5 with a single and an RBI double. He should get most of the starts in center while Lofton is out.

Repko has been recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas by the Los Angeles Dodgers, filling the roster spot of fellow outfielder Milton Bradley, who will be sidelined indefinitely with a slight ligament tear in his right ring finger. In 36 games with the Dodgers this season, Repko is batting .217 with four home runs, nine RBI and two stolen bases.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have optioned Repko to Triple-A Las Vegas, opening a spot on the roster for fellow outfielder Jayson Werth, who was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday. Repko made his major league debut earlier this season and helped fill the void in left field during Werth's absence. In 34 games, he is batting .231 with four home runs, nine RBI and two stolen bases.
