Tony Blanco

7/13/2005

Battling vertigo as a result of a sinus infection, Blanco was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. The Rule 5 pick is 11-for-44 (.250) with a homer in 39 games for the Nationals this season.

Blanco is suffering from vertigo, a result from a sinus infection, which could land him on the disabled list.

Normally a corner infielder, Blanco should see some consistent playing time in the Nationals' outfield over the next several days, as Jeffrey Hammonds landed on the DL with a hamstring injury and Brad Wilkerson is expected to miss a few days with an arm problem. Blanco belted the first home run of his major league career in Sunday's win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
